Project Swissmetro Underway for 35 Years

35 years have passed since Rodolphe Nieth started the project Swissmetro in 1974. Nieth worked as an engineer for the Swiss Federal Railways when he began to develop the idea of a highspeed maglev train that runs in vacuum tunnels underground. Over the last quarter century many studies have been done and the project has come far but as of late it receives only little public attention and political support.
